Zeeland, MI – August 11, 2022 – Christine Plummer RN, MSN from City on a Hill Ministries Health Clinic, has been named Immunization Champion for her outstanding efforts to promote immunization in Ottawa County, Michigan. Plummer is recognized for working closely with the Ottawa County Health Department in promoting COVID 19 vaccines and providing vaccine clinics. When the clinic needed an additional Community Health Worker, Christine hired someone from the Hispanic community for outreach for equity in health care and vaccines. In addition to this Christine is a nursing instructor at Grand Valley State University. She teaches community health and her students are out in the community learning about the community and the needs and inequities around us. The nursing students have also been involved in the vaccine clinics.

“I am honored to receive this award and I am most proud of my team for going above and beyond for the members of our community” Plummer said.

Immunization Champion selections come from a pool of health professionals, coalition members, community advocates, and other immunization leaders. These awards acknowledge the outstanding efforts of individuals who go above and beyond ensuring immunization access in their communities. State immunization programs coordinated the nomination process and submitted nominees to AIM. One winner is selected in 50 participating states and the District of Columbia.

“Through the Immunization Champion awards, AIM and Michigan proudly acknowledge Christine Plummer’s passion, hard work, and commitment to immunization,” said Gary Ellens, Executive Director City on a Hill Ministries.
